On Location Jewellery Photo Shoot

On Location Jewellery Photo Shoot at the Beach!

Here at Capture Factory, we wanted to give you a little bit of insight into our most recent on location jewellery photo shoot. One of our clients requested that their jewellery got shot on the beach, and of course, we were immediately on board with the idea! On location shoots tend to be the most fun, as you are in a whole new environment and are able to experience an idea come to life with the help of professional photographers and equipment. Here are the main characteristics of an on location shoot with us and what we provide!

Models

In this particular case, the client provided their own model. However, it is very common for clients to come to us for advice on the best models to hire to showcase their products.  We work closely with a trusted modelling agency to provide us with the best models at competitive prices. We aim to satisfy the clients’ needs in terms of what they request in the physical attributes of a model. This will help set the tone for the style of the photoshoot and for the particular products. For this location jewellery photo shoot we only used one model to wear all of the jewellery. This is because we wanted to keep it simple and showcase how each piece would look in a consistent manner. We also provided a talented makeup artist and hair stylist to complete the look.

Pack Shots

On top of providing the model shots for our client, we also provided pack shots of the individual products. All of your products are shot at our Brighton HQ by our lovely and talented team. Having detailed in-studio shots of the jewellery is just as important as having an on location jewellery photo shoot. This way your potential clients are able to experience the products in multiple ways, both worn and also displayed on a clear background. We have a lot of experience in this area, so you are assured to be provided with a professional and high quality service and result. Our Must Have Accessories for this Summer

Our Top 5 Must Have Accessories for this Summer!

Now that we’re in the midst of summer, it’s time for us to share some of our must have accessories for this season. Nobody was expecting this sudden heatwave in the UK, but now that it’s here it’s time to enjoy the warm weather and look glamorous! Here at Capture Factory we have compiled a list of our top 5 accessory essentials that we’ve photographed and that we think will help spice up all your summer outfits.

Sunglasses

This might sound obvious, but you would be surprised at how much difference a pair of sunglasses can do. It can be just what you need to make an outfit go from mediocre to stylish. Whether you are wearing the glasses to actually protect your eyes, wearing them on your head or have them hanging over the neckline of your shirt, they will for sure make an impact. They also serve a practical use, of course, for those days where your eyes just can’t take the blinding sun rays. Sunglasses come in so many shapes and sizes that you will definitely find a pair that suits you! This is why we have added them to our list of must have accessories. To find out more about the shoot we worked on for the picture below click here.

Temporary Tattoos

Although unusual, temporary tattoos have been on the rise recently. They allow you to experiment without having a permanent commitment! Temporary tattoos are very popular at summer festivals and other events where people love to stand out. They become must have accessories in the warm weather as people love to flaunt them with their fresh summer tan. You can use them subtly as a replacement for jewellery or simply as an add-on to your look. This shot below was taken by Capture Factory for a temporary tattoo company.

Foulards

These are essentially scarves for the summer. For when it reaches the lower temperatures in the evenings or for those windier summer days, it is always handy to stay a little warmer in a fashionable way. Foulards fall into your must have accessories if you want to embellish your outfit and also be practical. You can of course wear them around your neck, but you could also use them to cover yourself if you get cold, like a versatile blanket, but not as heavy! They are usually made from a thin material and come in hundreds of colours and patterns. Check out this behind the scenes video on a scarves fashion shoot at Capture Factory Photography.

Hats

When it comes to hats, not everybody will be a fan. It can sometimes be hard to find the perfect one that will suit you, but once you do you will never want to take it off! We found that the most popular summer hat is the straw hat, or just a simple cap. Hats are such a bold statement that they can either make or break an outfit. Hence the importance of carefully combining it with your outfit to complement it rather than making it too cluttered. Hats are great to protect yourself from the heat and are a great accessory, it’s the best of both worlds! The shot below was taken by our head photographer Rory for a hats brand in central Brighton.

Cover Ups

Last but not least, it is worth mentioning something for all those lucky people who will be spending some time at the beach this summer, cover ups. As the name suggests, these are simply garments that are worn over swimwear. With the temperatures rising, cover ups are great for when you don’t want to fully dress up after the beach or pool but are happy to lounge in something more than just a bikini. You can stay fresh by still looking stylish, what could be better? The photograph below is from a fashion e-commerce shoot taken at our Brighton studio.

In the summer, it is quite easy to feel limited when it comes to composing an outfit as layering is not an option. This is why accessories are a great way to spice up your outfits and make you feel fashionable! If you would like to have a look at our latest on location swimwear shoot click here

Behind The Scenes of Our Photoshoots!

What truly goes on behind the scenes of our photoshoots?

Having a professional and passionate team working behind the scenes of our photoshoots is very important, you would be amazed at the amount of detail that goes behind the scenes of every photoshoot. This is in order to get the best results. Here at Capture Factory we make sure to deliver to the highest possible standard. It’s not as easy as it seems and it is certainly a lot more time consuming than you would think. We thought it would be fun to reveal to you what goes on behind the scenes of our photoshoots!

Prepping

From the opening of packages to the final product, we try to deliver our best efforts. Our team always start by carefully opening up and organising all the clothes that gets sent to us. It then gets hung up in correlation to what is going to be shot first. First of all, before anything is shot we receive clear instructions on how the company wants their clothes to be presented in the image. We then go ahead and steam all the items of clothing to ensure that they look flawless and lack any imperfections!

Styling the garments

The process changes based on whether the clothes are worn by a model, shot on a mannequin or pinned on a white board. If we have models that have come in to wear the clothing, we have professional help hired with them. From makeup artists to hair stylists we want to hire the best team to contribute to the behind the scenes of our photoshoots. We also work closely with a trusted modelling agency to provide us with the best models at competitive prices. Lighting, sets and good equipment are also of major importance as these elements are the basis to a good quality photograph.

Attention to detail

It’s not enough to just throw the clothes on a mannequin, you need to meticulously position the clothing correctly in response to what the client wants, get the perfect angle and style the items so it looks at its best. The attention to detail could be as little as a crease in a T-shirt or a label poking out. You need plenty of time and patience to create something that will tick all the boxes and satisfy clients requests, which is why it’s best not to leave booking a shoot until last minute.

Thoughts?

We hope this gave you a little bit of insight of the behind the scenes of our photoshoots, what you see in the final result doesn’t always come easy! Were you expecting this much level of work? Would you like more behind the scenes content from us? We are always busy and working hard on something here at our Brighton HQ. You can book your desired photoshoots with us anytime. Location beach photoshoot for swimwear brand

Location beach photoshoot for a swimwear brand

This location beach photoshoot for a swimwear brand took place on the Sussex coastline. This photoshoot was to capture the swimwear range being worn by two models. The location for this shoot was near Camber Sand where there was the beautiful sandy beach with sand dunes, crisp white beach huts and a holiday campervan which made for some varied photos. The models were chosen by our client from one of the modelling agencies we had recomended and onsite was a hair and make up artist at hand, along with the Capture Factory photography and video team. We were asked to film some behind the scenes action to make into a short film so it was a busy and fun couple of days spent shooting on the beach.

Take a look at some of the video footage from this shoot in our showreel here

Choosing the photos and re-touching

If you book a location photoshoot the way it works is we’ll shoot as many photos as we can in the time, we’ll then send you over a contact sheet with all of the RAW pre-edited images and you can choose which ones you’d like to have re-touched. Re-touching can range from slight tweaks like a skin softener, dust and crease removal to more in depth editing like if your model has a tattoo you’d like removed in each photo.

Shooting children’s accessories at Capture Factory

Bespoke children’s accessories at Capture Factory Brighton

This week we’re sharing some children’s accessories that we shot for one of our clients. These photos are showing some fun kids crowns that have been made with printed fabrics. The studio and our head photographer was booked for a few hours, then we photographed this little girl modelling the crowns.

Model shoots and products photography

Our client wanted to have both model shots with her child wearing the crowns along with product photos. Modelled photography is really good for showing off your product and putting it into context, this can help your customers visualise using the items themselves. Then product photos are good to show clear close ups and detailed shots of your products.

Model fashion photoshoot for Brighton boutique

Capture Factory shoots a model fashion photoshoot

We’ve been working on a model fashion photoshoot at the studio earlier this summer. The seasons are changing, and with that comes a different wardrobe. This Brighton boutique we worked with has a great A/W collection and came to us for their new photography. We also shot their invisible mannequin photography along with a model shoot where they hired the studio for a day, and came in with their team and a model to wear the outfits.

model fashion photoshoot, female model wearing floral black dress

Creating original shots to attract customers

Every client varies their shot requirements and how they need them edited. As a standard most boutiques require a front, back and detail image for their invisible mannequin photography. This enables customers to clearly see what the garment looks like from varied angles, and the detail shot shows you the quality of the fabric and the print.

model fashion photoshoot, blue and white stripe long sleeve top

Customisable invisible mannequin

Invisible mannequin can also be edited onto a particular colour, some of our clients require a muted grey or a natural cream tone. And everybody requires a particular image size of which we will shoot and resize to their requirement. We then send both high res Tifs along with the resized Jpegs, so they are ready to upload online or onto social media, saving time for our clients.

model fashion photoshoot, navy jumper dress with coloured stripes

The variety of choice with model shoots

Model shoots can also really vary between each client, sometimes we shoot against white, grey or coloured backgrounds, we recently shot for a children’s fashion brand which had a red background which looked great and stood out, we’ll share those photos in a later blog post! Sometimes models need to be cropped up to their nose so their face isn’t recognisable, but it’s all dependent on the clients and what they want.

E-commerce food photography at Capture Factory

Take a look at some recent food photography

We’ve been shooting commercial food photography at Capture Factory. We’ve worked with this brand before, and this time they wanted to create a spread of ingredients for a lifestyle shot. This was so that it could be used as a banner for their website, Not On The High Street, Amazon or any other online platform they use for selling their Biltong products.

What is ‘packshot’ photography

We also shot a number of ‘pack shots’ for them, these are images that have been shot against a white background, then we edit them onto a pure white background and create perfect product shot that can be used commercially. These type of shots are good for customers to clearly see the product without any distractions. They are clear, crisp and consistent in their sizing, white balance and re-touching. Some things we look out for when editing this type of shot, is whether there’s any dust or marks on the packaging, ensuring all the text is aligned correctly, make sure the colours of each product are all of a similar brightness, making sure they’re all exactly the same size and much more.

food photography of a packet of Biltong

What is lifestyle photography?

For the lifestyle shot, the purpose of this might be to engage your customers more, make them think about your product more and imagine actually eating or using the product. These usually have some kind of story, in this case, it was to show off the delicious, fresh ingredients used in the Biltong products. The type of things we’ll look out for on lifestyle images are; making sure each image is consistent in their editing such as exposure, white balance and shadows, removing any unwanted marks such as dust, crumbs or reflections and making sure the image really stands!

food photography of ingredients, salts and Biltong packaging
