On Location Jewellery Photo Shoot

On Location Jewellery Photo Shoot at the Beach!

Here at Capture Factory, we wanted to give you a little bit of insight into our most recent on location jewellery photo shoot. One of our clients requested that their jewellery got shot on the beach, and of course, we were immediately on board with the idea! On location shoots tend to be the most fun, as you are in a whole new environment and are able to experience an idea come to life with the help of professional photographers and equipment. Here are the main characteristics of an on location shoot with us and what we provide!

In this particular case, the client provided their own model. However, it is very common for clients to come to us for advice on the best models to hire to showcase their products.  We work closely with a trusted modelling agency to provide us with the best models at competitive prices. We aim to satisfy the clients’ needs in terms of what they request in the physical attributes of a model. This will help set the tone for the style of the photoshoot and for the particular products. For this location jewellery photo shoot we only used one model to wear all of the jewellery. This is because we wanted to keep it simple and showcase how each piece would look in a consistent manner. We also provided a talented makeup artist and hair stylist to complete the look.

Pack Shots

On top of providing the model shots for our client, we also provided pack shots of the individual products. All of your products are shot at our Brighton HQ by our lovely and talented team. Having detailed in-studio shots of the jewellery is just as important as having an on location jewellery photo shoot. This way your potential clients are able to experience the products in multiple ways, both worn and also displayed on a clear background. Our Must Have Accessories for this Summer

Our Top 5 Must Have Accessories for this Summer!

Now that we’re in the midst of summer, it’s time for us to share some of our must have accessories for this season. Nobody was expecting this sudden heatwave in the UK, but now that it’s here it’s time to enjoy the warm weather and look glamorous! Here at Capture Factory we have compiled a list of our top 5 accessory essentials that we’ve photographed and that we think will help spice up all your summer outfits.

This might sound obvious, but you would be surprised at how much difference a pair of sunglasses can do. It can be just what you need to make an outfit go from mediocre to stylish. Whether you are wearing the glasses to actually protect your eyes, wearing them on your head or have them hanging over the neckline of your shirt, they will for sure make an impact. They also serve a practical use, of course, for those days where your eyes just can’t take the blinding sun rays. Sunglasses come in so many shapes and sizes that you will definitely find a pair that suits you! This is why we have added them to our list of must have accessories. To find out more about the shoot we worked on for the picture below click here.

Temporary Tattoos

Although unusual, temporary tattoos have been on the rise recently. They allow you to experiment without having a permanent commitment! Temporary tattoos are very popular at summer festivals and other events where people love to stand out. They become must have accessories in the warm weather as people love to flaunt them with their fresh summer tan. You can use them subtly as a replacement for jewellery or simply as an add-on to your look. This shot below was taken by Capture Factory for a temporary tattoo company.

These are essentially scarves for the summer. For when it reaches the lower temperatures in the evenings or for those windier summer days, it is always handy to stay a little warmer in a fashionable way. Foulards fall into your must have accessories if you want to embellish your outfit and also be practical. You can of course wear them around your neck, but you could also use them to cover yourself if you get cold, like a versatile blanket, but not as heavy! They are usually made from a thin material and come in hundreds of colours and patterns. Check out this behind the scenes video on a scarves fashion shoot at Capture Factory Photography.

When it comes to hats, not everybody will be a fan. It can sometimes be hard to find the perfect one that will suit you, but once you do you will never want to take it off! We found that the most popular summer hat is the straw hat, or just a simple cap. Hats are such a bold statement that they can either make or break an outfit. Hence the importance of carefully combining it with your outfit to complement it rather than making it too cluttered. Hats are great to protect yourself from the heat and are a great accessory, it’s the best of both worlds! The shot below was taken by our head photographer Rory for a hats brand in central Brighton.

Cover Ups

Last but not least, it is worth mentioning something for all those lucky people who will be spending some time at the beach this summer, cover ups. As the name suggests, these are simply garments that are worn over swimwear. With the temperatures rising, cover ups are great for when you don’t want to fully dress up after the beach or pool but are happy to lounge in something more than just a bikini. You can stay fresh by still looking stylish, what could be better? The photograph below is from a fashion e-commerce shoot taken at our Brighton studio.

In the summer, it is quite easy to feel limited when it comes to composing an outfit as layering is not an option. This is why accessories are a great way to spice up your outfits and make you feel fashionable! If you would like to have a look at our latest on location swimwear shoot click here

Behind The Scenes of Our Photoshoots!

What truly goes on behind the scenes of our photoshoots?

Having a professional and passionate team working behind the scenes of our photoshoots is very important, you would be amazed at the amount of detail that goes behind the scenes of every photoshoot. This is in order to get the best results. Here at Capture Factory we make sure to deliver to the highest possible standard. It’s not as easy as it seems and it is certainly a lot more time consuming than you would think. We thought it would be fun to reveal to you what goes on behind the scenes of our photoshoots!

From the opening of packages to the final product, we try to deliver our best efforts. Our team always start by carefully opening up and organising all the clothes that gets sent to us. It then gets hung up in correlation to what is going to be shot first. First of all, before anything is shot we receive clear instructions on how the company wants their clothes to be presented in the image. We then go ahead and steam all the items of clothing to ensure that they look flawless and lack any imperfections!

Styling the garments

The process changes based on whether the clothes are worn by a model, shot on a mannequin or pinned on a white board. If we have models that have come in to wear the clothing, we have professional help hired with them. From makeup artists to hair stylists we want to hire the best team to contribute to the behind the scenes of our photoshoots. We also work closely with a trusted modelling agency to provide us with the best models at competitive prices. Lighting, sets and good equipment are also of major importance as these elements are the basis to a good quality photograph.

Attention to detail

It’s not enough to just throw the clothes on a mannequin, you need to meticulously position the clothing correctly in response to what the client wants, get the perfect angle and style the items so it looks at its best. The attention to detail could be as little as a crease in a T-shirt or a label poking out. You need plenty of time and patience to create something that will tick all the boxes and satisfy clients requests, which is why it’s best not to leave booking a shoot until last minute.

We hope this gave you a little bit of insight of the behind the scenes of our photoshoots, what you see in the final result doesn’t always come easy! Were you expecting this much level of work? Would you like more behind the scenes content from us? We are always busy and working hard on something here at our Brighton HQ. You can book your desired photoshoots with us anytime. Just contact our lovely team and we will make sure to do our best to guide you through every step of the way. You can find more of our exciting behind the scenes content by clicking here

5 Top Tips on How to Enhance your Jewellery in your Photo Shoots

How to enhance your jewellery and make it look its best in a photo shoot!

When it comes to enhancing your jewellery in a photo shoot, it’s important to think about the details in order to make it look its best. Other than the obvious technicalities such as lighting, angles and focus, it is always wise to think about how to make your product look fun and desirable. Here at Capture Factory, we are constantly having different and exciting jewellery photoshoots. This has given us the idea to compile some top tips on how to enhance your jewellery through photography!

Backgrounds play a big part in jewellery photo shoots. Is it going to be plain or interesting? Will it be an in studio shoot or an on location shoot? Is it going to be in or out of focus? The background sets the tone for the photoshoot and should represent the style of your product. It shouldn’t be too fussy or take away the attention from the actual piece of jewellery, but it should help make it look as gorgeous as it can be! Perhaps it could include the same colour tones as the product, colours that enhance your jewellery, or even some crazy patterns! Here are some examples of a location shoot we had at the beach to showcase these beautiful pieces.

Props can either make or break your product. This means you should choose wisely and not just fill the image with un-needed clutter. Props could be as simple as a necklace stand or, alternatively, they can make the image really interesting and be contrasting in colours and shapes to your products in order to make them stand out. You could make them really bold such as using glitter or other large components in the background to enhance your jewellery. The most important thing is to have fun with it and use them creatively to make your photos stand out from the rest!

Before thinking about shooting any of your jewellery, you should decide wether you want your jewellery to be worn or simply laid out on a set. Models are a great way to showcase how well your jewellery can look when its actually on and they can really bring your jewellery to life. Models can play around with the products, enhance your jewellery and show how versatile it can be. People love to see what the jewellery will look like before they buy it, so models can really increase people’s desire to purchase the jewellery!

Makeup and Outfits

In the case that you decide to use a model for your jewellery shoot, you have the possibility to go crazy and try out all sorts of different make up looks! You could be simple and subtle so that you place the main focus on the jewellery or you could go with a dramatic look to add depth to the image. A very important factor however, is to always hire a professional makeup/hair stylist for these types of shoots, as you want this to enhance your product and make it look polished, not inelegant and amateurish. The same goes for the outfits that the model is wearing. You can style your jewellery in all sorts of different ways depending on the look that goes with it.

Say you are modelling rings, or bracelets etc. You ideally want the hand gestures of the model to complement the products, and not make them look too dull. Trying new poses can really give the client a new perspective on your product and enhance the look of the jewellery. It is also advisable for whoever is modelling your jewellery to have a clean and polished look and have well kept and painted nails for example. Nobody wants to see pretty jewellery on an unkempt hand!

To sum it up…

Taking all these details into account will really help in making your jewellery look great! Having professionally taken pictures of your products is essential in making the jewellery look polished and of high quality. Capture Factory can offer all sorts of shoots for your products. Our team will take all your requests into account as well as offering you advice and make your jewellery look the best it can be! Stylish fashion photoshoot for British designer at Capture Factory

Stylish fashion photoshoot for British designer at Capture Factory

Capture Factory recently worked on a stylish fashion photoshoot for a designer that makes these timeless garments. Ranging from dresses, jeans, jumpers and tops, the fabrics are all made from quality materials and each piece is unique. Going against the throwaway time we’re living in, this brand wants to step away from that, and design clothes that will still be worn decades from now by creating well-made classic garments. Capture Factory photographed their recent collection for their online shop, we provided both the invisible mannequin photography and model shots.

Capture Factory understand the importance of your brand’s aesthetic and continuity with your photography, so when it comes to working with us we’re more than happy to follow any specific styling and shooting requirements you might have. You might think invisible mannequin photography is the same for each brand but actually each company we work with has their own requirements with how they like their garments to sit on the mannequin and to be edited, this is so their images fit nicely together on their website making the user experience a lot easier.

Fashion catwalk videos for online shopping

Capture Factory shoot a range of fashion catwalk videos

Online shopping now has a whole new experience with fashion catwalk videos. ASOS were the first leading retailers to start this trend, and since it’s been a hit for customers, this is because it shows off the garment in a whole new way. For example you can see the way the fabric flows while the model is walking, you can see the length of the clothing, and how it might fit your body shape. Last month we shot a collection of catwalk videos alongside model photography and invisible mannequin

Photography & video in one

Our client had a specific backdrop in mind, so we helped source this and it worked perfectly. It added some more character to the videos without distracting from the clothing. We had two set ups in the studio, one for taking the catwalk videos and then when this was finished we’d change the lighting and photograph the model of still photography. We had already taken their invisible mannequin and accessory shots, so these were being edited while the shoot was happening by our team of retouchers.

Some light re-touching then they’re ready to send

After the shoot, some light retouching was involved just to simply remove marks on the floor, soften the skin slightly and any noticeable creases in the garments were removed, then everything was sent off to our client web-ready for them to upload and share straight away. Capture Factory has a 72 hour turn around so there’s no waiting, and if you need your photos sooner, there’s the Capture Priority which is a 24 hour turn around!

Brighton location photoshoot on the beach

Capture Factory works on a Brighton location photoshoot

Here are some shots from a Brighton location photoshoot that Capture Factory took for a client that makes beautiful scarves. We were asked to capture some photos on a location for this particular shoot, and we’re lucky that our studio is not only so close to the sea but is also surrounded by the countryside. So we thought the beach along Rottingdean would be the prime spot for this photoshoot, as there’s some overgrown grass that’s perfect for model shots. This location also boasts stunning sea views and the beach huts are picturesque too, giving so many possibilities to keep the images varied and interesting.
