A recent womenswear shoot in our Brighton lifestyle studio
When an online clothing brand needs new imagery, the photography has to do more than simply show what a garment looks like.

It needs to communicate the style of the brand, show how the clothes fit and move, and give customers a reason to imagine themselves wearing them.
That was the focus of a recent womenswear shoot at Capture Factory, where we photographed a collection of garments on a model in our upstairs Studio 7B in Brighton.
The result was a collection of natural, lifestyle-led images designed specifically for an online clothing brand.
Creating the right environment for womenswear photography
Studio 7B is our upstairs lifestyle studio, designed for shoots where brands want more than a simple white-background product image.
The larger space gives us room to create a variety of looks within the same shoot, while keeping the photography consistent across the collection.
For this womenswear shoot, we used the studio environment to create clean, contemporary images that allowed the clothing to remain the focus while giving the collection more personality.
This is particularly important for online fashion brands.
Customers can’t physically pick up a garment, try it on or see it moving. Good model photography helps bridge that gap.
Why model photography works for online clothing brands
For e-commerce, a combination of model photography and more traditional product photography can be particularly effective.
A model image shows the garment being worn and gives customers a better understanding of its shape, proportions and overall look.
It also provides context.
Instead of simply seeing a dress, top, jacket or pair of trousers photographed against a plain background, customers can see how the garment works as part of an outfit.
This gives the brand more versatile content for its website, social media, email marketing and advertising.
At Capture Factory, we regularly produce model photography alongside invisible mannequin, flatlay and other e-commerce formats, allowing brands to create a consistent library of imagery across their entire collection.
A lifestyle approach in Studio 7B
The benefit of shooting in a lifestyle studio is that we can create imagery that feels more like a fashion campaign while retaining the control and consistency of a professional photography studio.
Studio 7B gives us the space to experiment with different compositions, poses, crops and backgrounds without needing to hire an external location.
That flexibility is particularly useful for online brands producing regular collections.
Once the lighting and overall look have been established, we can work through multiple garments efficiently while keeping the finished images visually consistent.
Consistency matters for e-commerce
When customers browse an online clothing store, they expect the images to feel like part of the same collection.
Lighting, colour, cropping, composition and editing all contribute to that consistency.
It’s something we pay close attention to at Capture Factory.
Our team can manage the process from preparing the garments and setting up the shoot through to photography and professional editing, helping ensure that the finished images are ready to use across an online store.
For brands shooting regularly, this consistency becomes even more important. New collections need to sit naturally alongside existing imagery rather than looking like they were photographed by completely different teams.
More than just images for an online store
Although the primary purpose of the shoot was e-commerce, model photography gives a clothing brand much more content to work with.
The finished images can be used across:
- E-commerce product pages
- Collection pages
- Paid advertising
- Email campaigns
- Lookbooks
- Digital marketing
- Brand campaigns
This is one of the reasons we recommend thinking about the intended use of the images before a shoot takes place.
A single collection can often be photographed in a way that produces both practical e-commerce imagery and more creative brand content.
