Behind The Scenes of Our Photoshoots!

What truly goes on behind the scenes of our photoshoots?

Having a professional and passionate team working behind the scenes of our photoshoots is very important, you would be amazed at the amount of detail that goes behind the scenes of every photoshoot. This is in order to get the best results. Here at Capture Factory we make sure to deliver to the highest possible standard. It’s not as easy as it seems and it is certainly a lot more time consuming than you would think. We thought it would be fun to reveal to you what goes on behind the scenes of our photoshoots!

Prepping

From the opening of packages to the final product, we try to deliver our best efforts. Our team always start by carefully opening up and organising all the clothes that gets sent to us. It then gets hung up in correlation to what is going to be shot first. First of all, before anything is shot we receive clear instructions on how the company wants their clothes to be presented in the image. We then go ahead and steam all the items of clothing to ensure that they look flawless and lack any imperfections!

Styling the garments

The process changes based on whether the clothes are worn by a model, shot on a mannequin or pinned on a white board. If we have models that have come in to wear the clothing, we have professional help professional help hired. From makeup artists to hair stylists we want to hire the best team to contribute to the behind the scenes of our photoshoots. We also work closely with a trusted modelling agency to provide us with the best models at competitive prices. Lighting, sets and good equipment are also of major importance as these elements are the basis to a good quality photograph.

Attention to detail

It’s not enough to just throw the clothes on a mannequin, you need to meticulously position the clothing correctly in response to what the client wants, get the perfect angle and style the items so it looks at its best. The attention to detail could be as little as a crease in a T-shirt or a label poking out. You need plenty of time and patience to create something that will tick all the boxes and satisfy clients requests, which is why it’s best not to leave booking a shoot until last minute.

Thoughts?

We hope this gave you a little bit of insight of the behind the scenes of our photoshoots, what you see in the final result doesn’t always come easy! Were you expecting this much level of work? Would you like more behind the scenes content from us? We are always busy and working hard on something here at our Brighton HQ. You can book your desired photoshoots with us anytime. 5 Top Tips on How to Enhance your Jewellery in your Photo Shoots

How to enhance your jewellery and make it look its best in a photo shoot!

When it comes to enhancing your jewellery in a photo shoot, it’s important to think about the details in order to make it look its best. Other than the obvious technicalities such as lighting, angles and focus, it is always wise to think about how to make your product look fun and desirable. Here at Capture Factory, we are constantly having different and exciting jewellery photoshoots. This has given us the idea to compile some top tips on how to enhance your jewellery through photography!

Background

Backgrounds play a big part in jewellery photo shoots. Is it going to be plain or interesting? Will it be an in studio shoot or an on location shoot? Is it going to be in or out of focus? The background sets the tone for the photoshoot and should represent the style of your product. It shouldn’t be too fussy or take away the attention from the actual piece of jewellery, but it should help make it look as gorgeous as it can be! Perhaps it could include the same colour tones as the product, colours that enhance your jewellery, or even some crazy patterns! Here are some examples of a location shoot we had at the beach to showcase these beautiful pieces.

Props

Props can either make or break your product. This means you should choose wisely and not just fill the image with un-needed clutter. Props could be as simple as a necklace stand or, alternatively, they can make the image really interesting and be contrasting in colours and shapes to your products in order to make them stand out. You could make them really bold such as using glitter or other large components in the background to enhance your jewellery. The most important thing is to have fun with it and use them creatively to make your photos stand out from the rest!

Models

Before thinking about shooting any of your jewellery, you should decide wether you want your jewellery to be worn or simply laid out on a set. Models are a great way to showcase how well your jewellery can look when its actually on and they can really bring your jewellery to life. Models can play around with the products, enhance your jewellery and show how versatile it can be. People love to see what the jewellery will look like before they buy it, so models can really increase people’s desire to purchase the jewellery!

Makeup and Outfits

In the case that you decide to use a model for your jewellery shoot, you have the possibility to go crazy and try out all sorts of different make up looks! You could be simple and subtle so that you place the main focus on the jewellery or you could go with a dramatic look to add depth to the image. A very important factor however, is to always hire a professional makeup/hair stylist for these types of shoots, as you want this to enhance your product and make it look polished, not inelegant and amateurish. The same goes for the outfits that the model is wearing. You can style your jewellery in all sorts of different ways depending on the look that goes with it.

Poses

Say you are modelling rings, or bracelets etc. You ideally want the hand gestures of the model to complement the products, and not make them look too dull. Trying new poses can really give the client a new perspective on your product and enhance the look of the jewellery. It is also advisable for whoever is modelling your jewellery to have a clean and polished look and have well kept and painted nails for example. Nobody wants to see pretty jewellery on an unkempt hand!

To sum it up…

Taking all these details into account will really help in making your jewellery look great! Having professionally taken pictures of your products is essential in making the jewellery look polished and of high quality. Capture Factory can offer all sorts of shoots for your products. Our team will take all your requests into account as well as offering you advice and make your jewellery look the best it can be! Cyclewear photography at our Brighton HQ

Our head photographer Rory worked on some cyclewear photography recently. Our client wanted the prints and colours in the garments to be used as the background of the images and it worked really well. Take a look at how they turned out here.

Fun colours and cool prints

These colours and prints work really well together when they’re sitting side by side. The images look great on our clients social media platforms and their website. It was all photographed at our Brighton studio by the sea. Many of our shoots are photographed here at the Capture Factory HQ, so if you ever pop in you’ll probably see our photographers in action!

Model shots & invisible mannequin for their online shop

For this shoot our client had already sent the garments in the post so we could photograph their invisible mannequin shots before the model shoot. This is a really popular way a lot of our clients like to work when they book model shoots with us, it’s so that the invisible mannequin images are edited and ready shortly after the model shoot, then they can upload the images at the same time onto their website.

Check out our invisible mannequin photography page for more information about it

5 reasons why professional photography is important for your business

Why having professional photography is important for your business

Many people don’t realise how important investing in professional photography is for your business. We have many clients who have come to Capture Factory after trying to do it themselves and soon realised it can be a lot harder than you might think to achieve the quality you’re after. Whether it’s the equipment available to you or the knowledge of how to use it, or if it’s down to the styling to fit your vision, a professional photographer will be able to help in these areas. We explore 5 reasons why professional photography is so important for your business:

1. Standing out from the crowd

There’s an abundance of websites and businesses out there, some of which may be offering a service like yours so you’ll really want to stand out from the crowd. What better way to entice people to yours than with visuals. Beautifully striking photography with styling that suits your vision will strengthen your brand and online presence.

2. Getting found on the web

Photography can really help you get found through Google searches. You can optimize your photos on your website so they can be found through the image search results and perform better on search engines.

3. Engaging with your customers

Letting people who’d like to know more about your business and photography is an excellent way to engage with your customers. Photos of your products, behind the scenes, models wearing your clothing or jewellery, location shoots and packshots are all ways to show your customers more about your business. Photos can help you build your brand on social media and be featured on blog posts, all of which help you build a relationship with your customers.

4. Saving you and your business time

Many magazines and brochures be that online or printed require a certain quality of image which professional photography will always match and exceed. It saves you time by hiring a professional photographer because you’re handing the job over to them. While they’re photographing, you can be getting on with other aspects of your business, your photographer will know the specs needed and will always provide sharp and eye catching imagery that are ready to use online or send to publishers.

5. First impressions

It might be tempting to take photos yourself or find alternatives to hiring a photographer, but if your photos are unprofessional and don’t represent your brand this will reflect your business. It can tell your customers other aspects of your business may be unprofessional too. Your photography will be the first thing people see when looking at your website or social media, so make a good first impression!

Sussex model photoshoot for a stylish sportswear range

Sussex model photoshoot at our Brighton studio

Take a look at this Sussex model photoshoot blog post to find out about a project we worked on this month. One of our clients approached us about photographing a new range of sportswear clothing for their company. This collection is all about comfort and style, it’s really important for them that it feels as good as it looks. The fabric these garments are made from is Micromodal, a soft material that has a very fine knit creating a silky feel. This is really useful for us because then we know how to set up the studio and save time when our client arrive which means taking more photos for them! Sussex 360 product photography for local gin supplier

Sussex 360 product photography for local artisan gin

Take a look at our Sussex 360 product photography, recently we were approached by a local gin supplier to provide them with a video and imagery for their artisan gin bottle. This product was launched in 2016, and is unique to other gin suppliers because of the way in which the gin is processed.  They make use of the unused grape juice produced by the grape harvest in Sussex. Using this by-product reduces waste and is environmentally friendly. Additional flavours that are infused in this grape-based spirit include the likes of bitter orange, coriander, juniper and many more delicious ingredients.

Check out our 360 Photography page here to find out more

Carefully crafted packaging

The bottle itself has been carefully designed and crafted teaming up with designers & illustrators to help create the packaging. They have used the elegant shape of a burgundy style wine bottle to echo the fact it’s a grape-based spirit, and it has been screen printed with a precious metal ink along with a white ceramic ink. There are lots of details to this beautiful bottle such as the illustration of vine leaves climbing up the bottle, the copper sheen of the logo and the fox design.

Capturing the details

Our brief was to photograph each bottle and their custom made brooch as they provide a gift version of the gin, miniature bottles and the fox logo as a brooch. We were also asked to create a 360 video showing the bottle turning around so you can see every angle and detail. These videos are a great way for you to really show off your amazing products.
