Behind The Scenes of Our Photoshoots!

What truly goes on behind the scenes of our photoshoots?

Having a professional and passionate team working behind the scenes of our photoshoots is very important, you would be amazed at the amount of detail that goes behind the scenes of every photoshoot. This is in order to get the best results. Here at Capture Factory we make sure to deliver to the highest possible standard. It’s not as easy as it seems and it is certainly a lot more time consuming than you would think. We thought it would be fun to reveal to you what goes on behind the scenes of our photoshoots!

Prepping

From the opening of packages to the final product, we try to deliver our best efforts. Our team always start by carefully opening up and organising all the clothes that gets sent to us. It then gets hung up in correlation to what is going to be shot first. First of all, before anything is shot we receive clear instructions on how the company wants their clothes to be presented in the image. We then go ahead and steam all the items of clothing to ensure that they look flawless and lack any imperfections!

Styling the garments

The process changes based on whether the clothes are worn by a model, shot on a mannequin or pinned on a white board. If we have models that have come in to wear the clothing, we have professional help professional help hired. From makeup artists to hair stylists we want to hire the best team to contribute to the behind the scenes of our photoshoots. We also work closely with a trusted modelling agency to provide us with the best models at competitive prices. Lighting, sets and good equipment are also of major importance as these elements are the basis to a good quality photograph.

Attention to detail

It’s not enough to just throw the clothes on a mannequin, you need to meticulously position the clothing correctly in response to what the client wants, get the perfect angle and style the items so it looks at its best. The attention to detail could be as little as a crease in a T-shirt or a label poking out. You need plenty of time and patience to create something that will tick all the boxes and satisfy clients requests, which is why it’s best not to leave booking a shoot until last minute.

Thoughts?

We hope this gave you a little bit of insight of the behind the scenes of our photoshoots, what you see in the final result doesn’t always come easy! Were you expecting this much level of work? Would you like more behind the scenes content from us? We are always busy and working hard on something here at our Brighton HQ. You can book your desired photoshoots with us anytime. 5 Top Tips on How to Enhance your Jewellery in your Photo Shoots

How to enhance your jewellery and make it look its best in a photo shoot!

When it comes to enhancing your jewellery in a photo shoot, it’s important to think about the details in order to make it look its best. Other than the obvious technicalities such as lighting, angles and focus, it is always wise to think about how to make your product look fun and desirable. Here at Capture Factory, we are constantly having different and exciting jewellery photoshoots. This has given us the idea to compile some top tips on how to enhance your jewellery through photography!

Background

Backgrounds play a big part in jewellery photo shoots. Is it going to be plain or interesting? Will it be an in studio shoot or an on location shoot? Is it going to be in or out of focus? The background sets the tone for the photoshoot and should represent the style of your product. It shouldn’t be too fussy or take away the attention from the actual piece of jewellery, but it should help make it look as gorgeous as it can be! Perhaps it could include the same colour tones as the product, colours that enhance your jewellery, or even some crazy patterns! Here are some examples of a location shoot we had at the beach to showcase these beautiful pieces.

Props

Props can either make or break your product. This means you should choose wisely and not just fill the image with un-needed clutter. Props could be as simple as a necklace stand or, alternatively, they can make the image really interesting and be contrasting in colours and shapes to your products in order to make them stand out. You could make them really bold such as using glitter or other large components in the background to enhance your jewellery. The most important thing is to have fun with it and use them creatively to make your photos stand out from the rest!

Models

Before thinking about shooting any of your jewellery, you should decide wether you want your jewellery to be worn or simply laid out on a set. Models are a great way to showcase how well your jewellery can look when its actually on and they can really bring your jewellery to life. Models can play around with the products, enhance your jewellery and show how versatile it can be. People love to see what the jewellery will look like before they buy it, so models can really increase people’s desire to purchase the jewellery!

Makeup and Outfits

In the case that you decide to use a model for your jewellery shoot, you have the possibility to go crazy and try out all sorts of different make up looks! You could be simple and subtle so that you place the main focus on the jewellery or you could go with a dramatic look to add depth to the image. A very important factor however, is to always hire a professional makeup/hair stylist for these types of shoots, as you want this to enhance your product and make it look polished, not inelegant and amateurish. The same goes for the outfits that the model is wearing. You can style your jewellery in all sorts of different ways depending on the look that goes with it.

Poses

Say you are modelling rings, or bracelets etc. You ideally want the hand gestures of the model to complement the products, and not make them look too dull. Trying new poses can really give the client a new perspective on your product and enhance the look of the jewellery. It is also advisable for whoever is modelling your jewellery to have a clean and polished look and have well kept and painted nails for example. Nobody wants to see pretty jewellery on an unkempt hand!

To sum it up…

Taking all these details into account will really help in making your jewellery look great! Having professionally taken pictures of your products is essential in making the jewellery look polished and of high quality. Capture Factory can offer all sorts of shoots for your products. Our team will take all your requests into account as well as offering you advice and make your jewellery look the best it can be! Stylish fashion photoshoot for British designer at Capture Factory

Stylish fashion photoshoot for British designer at Capture Factory

Capture Factory recently worked on a stylish fashion photoshoot for a designer that makes these timeless garments. Ranging from dresses, jeans, jumpers and tops, the fabrics are all made from quality materials and each piece is unique. Going against the throwaway time we’re living in, this brand wants to step away from that, and design clothes that will still be worn decades from now by creating well-made classic garments. Capture Factory photographed their recent collection for their online shop, we provided both the invisible mannequin photography and model shots.

Take a look at our Invisible Mannequin Photography page here

Working with your branding

Capture Factory understand the importance of your brand’s aesthetic and continuity with your photography, so when it comes to working with us we’re more than happy to follow any specific styling and shooting requirements you might have. You might think invisible mannequin photography is the same for each brand but actually each company we work with has their own requirements with how they like their garments to sit on the mannequin and to be edited, this is so their images fit nicely together on their website making the user experience a lot easier.

For this shoot our client already knew which model she was going to use for the shoot, but if you need a helping hand with finding the right model for you brand we can help source one for you. We can also point you in the right direction to a number of modelling agencies we work with and that we always recommend to our clients. It doesn’t stop there either, we can book a make up artist for you too and scout out the right location for your shoot if you wanted to take it out of the studio!

Shooting lingerie ghost mannequin photography

Take a look at how we shoot lingerie ghost mannequin photography

We’ve been working on lingerie ghost mannequin photography (also known as invisible mannequin photography). Capture Factory Photography is one of the UK’s leading invisible mannequin photography studios creating unbeatable quality and consistency. Ghost/invisible mannequin photography is used to showcase clothing often alongside model shots, these are used across the board such as on the web and printed media such as look-books.

Excellent imagery with a quick turnaround

The process involves taking multiple shots which are edited together to create an image where it looks like the garments are being worn by an invisible mannequin. This is widely used because it’s clear and concise without any distractions. Our team of photographers, stylists and editors will create excellent imagery for you, we will prepare the garments and carefully steam them, then photograph and style the clothes to your specifications and once they’ve been shot our editing team will work their magic and make the images look perfect.

360 Photography

We also offer 360 photography this is where you can showcase your garments to your customers in a 360° rotaion, enabling the viewer to step inside the image and see it as if they’re actually with it! Take a look at out 360 Photography page here to find out more, or contact us for further details and a quote.

“Try before you buy”

Fashion catwalk videos for online shopping

Capture Factory shoot a range of fashion catwalk videos

Online shopping now has a whole new experience with fashion catwalk videos. ASOS were the first leading retailers to start this trend, and since it’s been a hit for customers, this is because it shows off the garment in a whole new way. For example you can see the way the fabric flows while the model is walking, you can see the length of the clothing, and how it might fit your body shape. Last month we shot a collection of catwalk videos alongside model photography and invisible mannequin

Photography & video in one

Our client had a specific backdrop in mind, so we helped source this and it worked perfectly. It added some more character to the videos without distracting from the clothing. We had two set ups in the studio, one for taking the catwalk videos and then when this was finished we’d change the lighting and photograph the model of still photography. We had already taken their invisible mannequin and accessory shots, so these were being edited while the shoot was happening by our team of retouchers.

Some light re-touching then they’re ready to send

After the shoot, some light retouching was involved just to simply remove marks on the floor, soften the skin slightly and any noticeable creases in the garments were removed, then everything was sent off to our client web-ready for them to upload and share straight away. Capture Factory has a 72 hour turn around so there’s no waiting, and if you need your photos sooner, there’s the Capture Priority which is a 24 hour turn around!

Brighton location photoshoot on the beach

Capture Factory works on a Brighton location photoshoot

Here are some shots from a Brighton location photoshoot that Capture Factory took for a client that makes beautiful scarves. We were asked to capture some photos on a location for this particular shoot, and we’re lucky that our studio is not only so close to the sea but is also surrounded by the countryside. So we thought the beach along Rottingdean would be the prime spot for this photoshoot, as there’s some overgrown grass that’s perfect for model shots. This location also boasts stunning sea views and the beach huts are picturesque too, giving so many possibilities to keep the images varied and interesting.

Model fashion photoshoot for Brighton boutique

Capture Factory shoots a model fashion photoshoot

We’ve been working on a model fashion photoshoot at the studio earlier this summer. The seasons are changing, and with that comes a different wardrobe. This Brighton boutique we worked with has a great A/W collection and came to us for their new photography. We also shot their invisible mannequin photography along with a model shoot where they hired the studio for a day, and came in with their team and a model to wear the outfits.

Creating original shots to attract customers

Every client varies their shot requirements and how they need them edited. As a standard most boutiques require a front, back and detail image for their invisible mannequin photography. This enables customers to clearly see what the garment looks like from varied angles, and the detail shot shows you the quality of the fabric and the print.

model fashion photoshoot, blue and white stripe long sleeve top

Customisable invisible mannequin

Invisible mannequin can also be edited onto a particular colour, some of our clients require a muted grey or a natural cream tone. And everybody requires a particular image size of which we will shoot and resize to their requirement. We then send both high res Tifs along with the resized Jpegs, so they are ready to upload online or onto social media, saving time for our clients.

The variety of choice with model shoots

Model shoots can also really vary between each client, sometimes we shoot against white, grey or coloured backgrounds, we recently shot for a children’s fashion brand which had a red background which looked great and stood out, we’ll share those photos in a later blog post! Sometimes models need to be cropped up to their nose so their face isn’t recognisable, but it’s all dependent on the clients and what they want.
