On Location Jewellery Photo Shoot

On Location Jewellery Photo Shoot at the Beach!

Here at Capture Factory, we wanted to give you a little bit of insight into our most recent on location jewellery photo shoot. One of our clients requested that their jewellery got shot on the beach, and of course, we were immediately on board with the idea! On location shoots tend to be the most fun, as you are in a whole new environment and are able to experience an idea come to life with the help of professional photographers and equipment. Here are the main characteristics of an on location shoot with us and what we provide!

Models

In this particular case, the client provided their own model. However, it is very common for clients to come to us for advice on the best models to hire to showcase their products.  We work closely with a trusted modelling agency to provide us with the best models at competitive prices. We aim to satisfy the clients’ needs in terms of what they request in the physical attributes of a model. This will help set the tone for the style of the photoshoot and for the particular products. For this location jewellery photo shoot we only used one model to wear all of the jewellery. This is because we wanted to keep it simple and showcase how each piece would look in a consistent manner. We also provided a talented makeup artist and hair stylist to complete the look.

Pack Shots

On top of providing the model shots for our client, we also provided pack shots of the individual products. All of your products are shot at our Brighton HQ by our lovely and talented team. Having detailed in-studio shots of the jewellery is just as important as having an on location jewellery photo shoot. This way your potential clients are able to experience the products in multiple ways, both worn and also displayed on a clear background. Behind The Scenes of Our Photoshoots!

What truly goes on behind the scenes of our photoshoots?

Having a professional and passionate team working behind the scenes of our photoshoots is very important, you would be amazed at the amount of detail that goes behind the scenes of every photoshoot. This is in order to get the best results. Here at Capture Factory we make sure to deliver to the highest possible standard. It’s not as easy as it seems and it is certainly a lot more time consuming than you would think. We thought it would be fun to reveal to you what goes on behind the scenes of our photoshoots!

Prepping

From the opening of packages to the final product, we try to deliver our best efforts. Our team always start by carefully opening up and organising all the clothes that gets sent to us. It then gets hung up in correlation to what is going to be shot first. First of all, before anything is shot we receive clear instructions on how the company wants their clothes to be presented in the image. We then go ahead and steam all the items of clothing to ensure that they look flawless and lack any imperfections!

Styling the garments

The process changes based on whether the clothes are worn by a model, shot on a mannequin or pinned on a white board. If we have models that have come in to wear the clothing, we have professional help hired with them. From makeup artists to hair stylists we want to hire the best team to contribute to the behind the scenes of our photoshoots. We also work closely with a trusted modelling agency to provide us with the best models at competitive prices. Lighting, sets and good equipment are also of major importance as these elements are the basis to a good quality photograph.

Attention to detail

It’s not enough to just throw the clothes on a mannequin, you need to meticulously position the clothing correctly in response to what the client wants, get the perfect angle and style the items so it looks at its best. The attention to detail could be as little as a crease in a T-shirt or a label poking out. You need plenty of time and patience to create something that will tick all the boxes and satisfy clients requests, which is why it’s best not to leave booking a shoot until last minute.

Thoughts?

We hope this gave you a little bit of insight of the behind the scenes of our photoshoots, what you see in the final result doesn’t always come easy! Were you expecting this much level of work? Would you like more behind the scenes content from us? We are always busy and working hard on something here at our Brighton HQ. You can book your desired photoshoots with us anytime. Just contact our lovely team and we will make sure to do our best to guide you through every step of the way. You can find more of our exciting behind the scenes content by clicking here

5 Top Tips on How to Enhance your Jewellery in your Photo Shoots

How to enhance your jewellery and make it look its best in a photo shoot!

When it comes to enhancing your jewellery in a photo shoot, it’s important to think about the details in order to make it look its best. Other than the obvious technicalities such as lighting, angles and focus, it is always wise to think about how to make your product look fun and desirable. Here at Capture Factory, we are constantly having different and exciting jewellery photoshoots. This has given us the idea to compile some top tips on how to enhance your jewellery through photography!

Background

Backgrounds play a big part in jewellery photo shoots. Is it going to be plain or interesting? Will it be an in studio shoot or an on location shoot? Is it going to be in or out of focus? The background sets the tone for the photoshoot and should represent the style of your product. It shouldn’t be too fussy or take away the attention from the actual piece of jewellery, but it should help make it look as gorgeous as it can be! Perhaps it could include the same colour tones as the product, colours that enhance your jewellery, or even some crazy patterns! Here are some examples of a location shoot we had at the beach to showcase these beautiful pieces.

Props

Props can either make or break your product. This means you should choose wisely and not just fill the image with un-needed clutter. Props could be as simple as a necklace stand or, alternatively, they can make the image really interesting and be contrasting in colours and shapes to your products in order to make them stand out. You could make them really bold such as using glitter or other large components in the background to enhance your jewellery. The most important thing is to have fun with it and use them creatively to make your photos stand out from the rest!

Models

Before thinking about shooting any of your jewellery, you should decide wether you want your jewellery to be worn or simply laid out on a set. Models are a great way to showcase how well your jewellery can look when its actually on and they can really bring your jewellery to life. Models can play around with the products, enhance your jewellery and show how versatile it can be. People love to see what the jewellery will look like before they buy it, so models can really increase people’s desire to purchase the jewellery!

Makeup and Outfits

In the case that you decide to use a model for your jewellery shoot, you have the possibility to go crazy and try out all sorts of different make up looks! You could be simple and subtle so that you place the main focus on the jewellery or you could go with a dramatic look to add depth to the image. A very important factor however, is to always hire a professional makeup/hair stylist for these types of shoots, as you want this to enhance your product and make it look polished, not inelegant and amateurish. The same goes for the outfits that the model is wearing. You can style your jewellery in all sorts of different ways depending on the look that goes with it.

Poses

Say you are modelling rings, or bracelets etc. You ideally want the hand gestures of the model to complement the products, and not make them look too dull. Trying new poses can really give the client a new perspective on your product and enhance the look of the jewellery. It is also advisable for whoever is modelling your jewellery to have a clean and polished look and have well kept and painted nails for example. Nobody wants to see pretty jewellery on an unkempt hand!

To sum it up…

Taking all these details into account will really help in making your jewellery look great! Having professionally taken pictures of your products is essential in making the jewellery look polished and of high quality. Capture Factory can offer all sorts of shoots for your products. Our team will take all your requests into account as well as offering you advice and make your jewellery look the best it can be! We loved doing this stylised product shoot for a menswear brand

What is a stylised product shoot?

A menswear fashion brand contacted us and asked if we could to a stylised product shoot for them.

Therefore, they have sent us their products, elegant mens belts, in our studio. In addition to that, some bags with the company’s name on it arrived.

Those were the items we were supposed to style and shoot with.

Because we have a lot of experience in preparing and styling the products of our clients, this didn’t show up as a challenge for us.

We staged the items in an outstanding way, instead of just shooting them the way they are. This will draw the client’s customers eyes on the products and they’ll be more willing to buy them.

The menswear fashion brand was very pleased with the outcome!

“Independent” publishes our images on the best wash bags list

Our imagery in the "Independent" magazineOur images in “Independent”

The magazine “Independent” published our images in one of their editions. We shot some wash bags recently and now they are on the list of the best wash bags to buy.

We had lots of fun doing this styled product shoot. Styled photoshoots are always a chance for us to prove our creativity in a professional way.

Our clients really liked that and it seems like their customers did, too!

It’s always an honour for us, when we see our images published in magazines or somewhere else beside trial websites.

For example, look at our brochure shoots in our portfolio, in order to find out more about it.

Look at this product shot of a memory box we shot a little while back!

Product shot of a wanderlust inspired memory boxStyled product shot

How cool is this wanderlust inspired memory box we have made a product shot of? We love this product so much! The idea and the design are just great.

We wanted to create the perfect setting in order to bring out the individual charm of the memory box. Hence, a styled shoot was the best solution.

We chose some little photographs, a little camera and a simple, colour matching background.

This setting perfectly conveyed the spirit of the product. Our clients were more than happy!

Watch Lookbook Photography – Watch this space…

Exciting shoot for a watch lookbook

Another watch lookbook shoot for the team at Capture Factory was a special treat. We shot for a London designer who we have worked with for many times in the past.

We use very precise stands to make sure the watches are perfectly straight. These also help to keep them to a standard size and height.

After we have shot each individual piece we pass the images to our team of expert editors. They carefully make sure all the straps are perfectly alined and each watch face is clear of dust and blemishes. As the watches need to be viewed all around on the website, we check they have continuity and pay special attention to detail.

Styled shoot

This shoot was a bit different. After shooting product shots for the designer in the past we loved creating a styled photoshoot this time. And we were even more excited when we saw the watches!

Inspired by vintage and catwalk the collection is distinctive, contemporary and fun. These new watches were also inspired by nature and featured beautiful images of bees, butterflies and birds.

To carry on with this trend we decided to incorporate taxidermy into the photoshoot and create a woodland feel. Our talented stylists are always on hand to give ideas and advise on images and product placement during the shoots. This time they created a woodland wonderland, by pinning hundreds of taxidermy butterflies onto rustic wood to create something magical.

Our head photographer at Capture Factory, Rory, used a number of techniques to complete the photoshoot. He used freehand, tripod stand and fully zoomed macro images.

As a result we created a catalogue for the London watch designers that they were more than pleased with. When you book a photoshoot with our team, you can be rest assured that all the images will be of highest quality. We can work to any scale required for your purposes and are always up for a new exciting challenge.

Mod menswear shirts lookbook shoot in our studio

Shooting menswear shirts and trousers

Capture Factory is based in Brighton so we know a thing or two about the Mod look. Hence, when a local designer wanted to shoot their range of menswear shirts and trousers we jumped at the chance.

Although we are Brighton based we are happy to travel to any location around the UK. For example, London designers often book us to shoot on location or in their design studios.

The styled shoot

Here at Capture Factory we love a lookbook shoot as we really can let our creativity run free. We used our knowledge of London in the 1960s to create a unique vibe. Nevertheless, the designers can tell us what they want the style to be like. We then combine ideas to come up with something special.

First we worked with pairing each shirt with the perfect combination of trousers and belts and often threw in a bag or jacket as an accessory. The model fitted all the shirts and trousers perfectly and looked great. We soon had him striding around the set and striking all sorts of poses.

Using both our stand alone photography rigs and close up freehand techniques we managed to create great shots of each combined look. Also, we have done details shots of the important parts of each garment.

When you hire Capture Factory, not only do you get your garments photographed, you also get the garments fully prepped beforehand and any advise needed from our expert stylists throughout the shoot.

Everyone looking for a lookbook shoot is invited to visit us in our studio to discuss their needs and ideas. With three shooting areas and a 30 foot infinity cove we can accommodate any requests and make dreams come true!

Styled shoot – super cute baby and children’s wear

How heartwarming are the images from our recent styled shoot!

This week the studio was overrun with super cute babies and children all for a styled shoot. The designer worked together with us to give ideas and pick her favourite shots throughout the day.

We had various handmade sets in the studio and we created three separate shoot areas.

styled shoot - baby wear 1

We used an overhead camera rig and elinchrom deep octa soft box for an even spread of light. This caused beautiful reflection in the babies eyes whist lying down.

We then created a set where the older toddlers would sit and crawl. Finally using our top Nikon cameras we created an area where we could photograph the children as they jumped about and generally had a great time.

The designer was more than happy with the images which they will probably use as high resolution press images, for lookbooks or on their website.
